Being ranked in the top 10 best architectural courses in UK, I have chosen to study at Manchester School of Architecture because of the joint course of the University of Manchester with Manchester Metropolitan University. In this way I can take advantage of the multiple  offers this collaboration brings such as access to two libraries, which is not time consuming and the possibility of getting two graduate diplomas. Networking in the current working environment is extremely important as it allows people to have relations in different sectors related to architecture such as graphic design. I believe that Manchester School of Architecture excels in these areas as most of its graduates are easily employed.

I  find the Romanian Palace of Parliament an architectural icon of totalitarian regime and also the most famous building in  my country. After my recent visit to Bucharest, I discovered that the architecture is dominated by the Brâcoveanu style blended with an ecletic style and traditional elements.  The House of Parliament is ranked second area-wise and third volume-wise in the Administration Buildings category in the Guinness Book of Record. The tour at Casa Poporului  took me two hours and I visited only 6%  of the entire building. The originality of the entry impressed me very much mostly because of the ceiling’s mosaic motif which mirrors in the decor of the floor. The multiple pieces of crystal chandeliers, marble arcades, wooden furniture made me think of the Renaissance and also Baroque styles.

Zaha Hadid is my favourite architect of all times.  She does not create little nice buildings, but she conceives fantasies which then she turns into futurist geometrical constructions.  She has a very logical thinking, therefore each concise piece she projects has a specific functional design. For example, the building of the ski jump at Innsbruck, Austria is shaped with mathematical precision and its elements were assembled in full accordance with nature and were also smoothly articulated so as to be integrated into an organic unity. Curved structures maximize the sight distance and as a result this adds fluidity to her buildings leaning upon this type of structure. Setting footsteps on this concept around the physical environment, she adds visual interest to the interior. I consider her my greatest inspiration because her work is meant to be looked at and enjoyed from every angle.

The Constanta Casino is one of the most beautiful, yet abandoned historical Romanian monument.   A glamorous and iconic symbol in the first years of the last century, built at the demand of Romanian’s first king, Carol the 1st , the Casino of Constanta remains a controversial issue regarding its renovation. I would be very honoured if I could be considered as part in the project of the restoration of our Casino.  Should I be considered, I would revive its Art Nouveau style by designing a spacious ballroom under an artistic urban platform in which daily workshops and fundraising parties might be organized.
